Oasis Cardiff is a  organisation that aims to help refugee’s and asylum seekers to integrate into their local community of Cardiff. This is mainly using the kichen as the centre of our activities.  We do weekly cookery sessions, womens only sessions and craft sessions.  We have also had a singing workshop run by the Sherman Theatre which was great fun even if no one knew the language we were singing in!

We opened on September 30 2008.  In the first 3 weeks we  had between 25-44 people coming. Now that has increased to 100-110 per week.  This has included people from Iran, Iraq, Mali and Congo.  Some have just arrived in Cardiff others have been here for a few years.

We have established links with the Community Police, Cardiff Council and other drop in’s.  Sessions have been run by different organisations and are planned for later this year.

Those that come are welcome to give their ideas on how to improve our services.
