Thank you to every one who sponsored Daniel and Russ running the half marathon.  They raised over £500.

Purl One Knit One

Having fun knitting and learning that there are different ways to cast on and do stitches!

We haven’t had a class for a while so we need to get out the needles and start again so the socks and hat that were started need to be finished…………if any one wants to donate wool, needles or patterns we will be grateful!

Testimonial One

May 21, 2009 Comments Off

From time to time we’d like to share with you the testimonials of others that either help at Oasis or are served by Oasis.

I am from Iran. I am coming to Oasis to help my friend Reynette. Maybe I can help to who and when new asylum seeker in Cardiff arrives. I will help people come from my country to give them some information about some things in this country by my language. I play and organise toys for children during their parents talking. Oasis is so helpful to give information and is a warm and suitable place for new people.

One year Old!

Since we’ve opened Oasis we’ve had on average 40 people coming which has increased to 60/70.  They come for many reasons; a place to come in the day time, to practice English, to have help reading forms, to have phone calls made on their behalf and much more.

English classes for new arrivals have started and people with more English are informed where there are other classes.

2 lap tops are available for use and to help with homework.

We have items of clothes and equipment for children, so come in if you need any thing. If we don’t have it we can try to find out where to get it or redirect you to a place that may have it.

People have come to Oasis Cardiff from all over the world representing countries which include: West Sahara, Afghanistan, Somalia, Pakistan, China, Iran, Iraq, Congo, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Guinea.

 All are welcome.

Cookery Class

October 5, 2008 1 comment

Oasis offers a Cookery Class every Wednesday at 12:00.

Come and learn how to cook a cheap and easy dish, then stay to eat what is made.

So far we have made Kuku Zubsi, Oshe, pasta, pancakes and Lahme bil Anjin.  We are keeping all the recipes to make into a cook book to raise funds to support the work.

Some of the women have also expressed an interest in cooking British fruit and vegetables so this year we shall do that too.
