Lanterns with Sherman Cymru

Sherman Cymru Theatre group came and led a work shop on lantern making. It was great fun and we will hopefully be using the lanterns in future Story telling’s in the future.

Traditional Stories and Drama at Oasis

Come join us for a night of story’s on the 11th of December here at Oasis.

For traditional and contemporary stories from around the world with musician and story teller Guto Dafis and the oasis community.

The evening will start at 7pm and festive refreshments will be available. This is a free event however donations will be gratefully received.

The evening is part of the Story telling course organised by Cath Little and NiACE Cymru for Oasis.

Show Racism the Red Card

 

As part of Show Racism the RED CARD’s fortnight of action, Oasis Cardiff hosted a 5 a’side Football match between Oasis Visitors and South wales PSCO’s based in Splott.

The referee lost count of the scores after both teams scored in excess of 20 goals each!!

Romeo and Juliet mash up!

Oasis Cardiff has recently been working with the Sherman Theater and the Adams Down arts association to create a Romeo and Juliet “Mash Up”. Oasis’ drama group, made up of refugees and asylum seekers, will get to perform their take on the Shakespearean story on Saturday October 18th, on the Sherman Theater stage.

Open 5 days a week offering ESOL classes, employability workshops, dance class, women only area, mums and toddlers classes, support with letters and phone calls and a safe space just to come and meet others.

Event at St. Fagans

From 11.00 AM to 4.00 PM
11:00 AM to 12:00 PM – Eritrean coffee ceremony
11:00 AM 12:00 PM – Lute & singing performance
12:00 PM to 1:00 PM – Food tasting
12:00 PM to 2:00 PM – Cultural dance workshops (including men’s cultural dance performance)
2:00 PM to 4:00 PM – Story telling

There will also be a craftivism, henna tattoos and a basket weaving
display happening throughout the day.
